
St. Francis Woman Sentenced on Assault Charge

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a St. Francis, South Dakota, woman charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon was sentenced on January 11, 2011, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Nola G. Charging Bear, age 26, was sentenced to 36 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund. Charging Bear was indicted for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury by a federal grand jury on July 13, 2010. The charges related to Charging Bear assaulting a Rosebud man with a dangerous weapon on September 2, 2009. She pled guilty to the charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon on October 26, 2010. This case was investigated by the FBI and Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case. Charging Bear was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal. |
